eSeal Emergency Card

What is an Emergency Card?
An emergency card is a card with a printed QR code and some additional printed information, such as contact person details.
The QR code points to a website where additional information can be stored for this card - for example medications, medical conditions, or the phone number of the family physician.
This information is stored encrypted in a database, even the operator of this site can not read or decrypt it. To read this information, you need the web code printed on the card.
Additionally, the holder of an Emergency Card gets an update access token which can be used to update this online stored information.

What do I get here?
After entering your name, date of birth and address, as well as the data of at least one contact person, a total of three documents are generated: Two high-resolution images in JPG format as print templates for the front and back of the card, and a PDF.
The PDF contains front and back side of the card for double-sided self-printing, as well as the access information for you (to update) and your practitioners (to read), as well as a fact sheet.
In addition, an encrypted database entry is created that can only be accessed using the QR code and the web code on the card. There you can later store further (for example medical) information with the help of the update functionality.

What should I do if

  • the data of contact persons have changed
  • I have misplaced/forgotten the update token
  • I have lost the card
Create a new emergency card and transfer all necessary data to it via the update functionality.
Then revoke the old card.
For this purpose, it is helpful and useful to store both the current card number and the stored data as - if necessary electronic - copy.

How do I revoke a card?
Select the "Revoke card" item on the website. Enter card number and date of birth to revoke the card. Please note that you can revoke a card only as holder or with power of attorney. Unauthorized revocation of a card may result in criminal and civil consequences.

What are eSeal, ESEC, sedecSys?
eSeal is the technology used to implement the emergency card. An electronic seal (eSeal) is a link encoded in a QR code that refers to an information about the object to which the seal is attached.
In this way, an electronic seal can ensure the origin of that object and/or provide additional information about it.
eSeals can be used as proof of authenticity, inventory labels, bookplates, receipts and more. The emergency card is also one of these applications.
ESEC is the abbreviation for eSeal-Emergency Card.
sedecSys development is the manufacturer of this product.
